Let’s go walking
Walking, walking
Let’s go walking, far, far away.
Time to go home again
Home again, home again
Time to go home again, back the same way.

Devora(l) & Eliana “Walking ” at Savta’s in Aventura
The first time I remember singing this song with you, Savta, was when we went to check for mail at your apartment in Aventura. The last time was three weeks ago when we sat together in your apartment and sang together.
Looking back at your life is such an inspiration for us. No matter how old you were, you never got old, always living life to its fullest. When the Torah tells us of Sarah passing away at age 127, Rashi notes that at age 20 she lived like a 7 year old in beauty and at age 100 like a 20 year old in righteousness, making all her years count. At age 40, when most people just settle down in their habitual life, you redirected yours and became religious. At age 60, when most start joining senior citizen programs, you went back to school and achieved your doctorate. We remember you at 80 dancing ballet and riding horses. And at 88, it wasn’t too late for you to make Aliya and call Israel your home. We feel so lucky to have had these last few years with you.
No matter how hard things were for you, you were always so happy to see us. Visiting you, especially with Yehuda, always made your face light up. Reading books to him together just like you used to read to us when we were kids was always so much fun and meant so much to us. And up until the end you continued with your great humor.
Life is a journey and we were blessed to have you walk among us a far way for the past 95 years. It is now time for your Neshama to go home again back the same way. While your body no longer walks with us, we will continue our walk in light of your amazing character, legacy and memories.
